Birthday Banner

When K was nearing 1 year and I was birthday shopping online I found the coolest birthday banner made out of different colored material. It was a crazy $60. I decided not only could I make my own, I could make it better. K's banner says, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY K...". I used several different prints. Each letter is backed with white cotton and each letter was hand cut with a stencil. On the back of the "H" I wrote 1, had everyone at his birthday party sign it, and sewed two carrots (the theme of his birthday party was veggies). My plan is to sew a button on each year that fits his personality at the time and have everyone sign a letter. So next year everyone will sign the A, then the P, then the other P and so on for 18 years. (well if he'll let us do it once he's a teen).

Mini Gnome

When I bought the peg people to make gnomes I bought two sizes. I decided that my winter gnome should have a mini buddy so here is the pair. Right now I am working on a nativity scene. I am just about done with Mary and should have here up shortly. Next I'll do Joseph, three wise men, Jesus, and an angel. Hum. Now that this picture is up I can see that the flash washed out the mini gnome's embroidery. I'll get a better picture later but he also has a snowflake on his hat.

Vanilla

For Christmas this year I decided to make everyone Vanilla. I bought four different types of vanilla and two different types of booze (that's really all it takes). C and I (and actually K helped a lot too) did all the pod cutting, measuring, and labeling. I ordered the terribly pretty bottles from a NAMI co-op. So here are a few of the finished products (there are actually around 30).

homemade Clay

After reading FamilyFun Magazine (which I swear has some of the best ideas) we decided to make some homemade clay. The ingredients are corn starch, salt, and water. C didn't fully read the instructions and really messed the clay up so it took days for it to dry enough for us to actually sculpt. We all had fun though and even little K made something. I'm not sure what it is but he sure laughed and laughed about it.

Mine are the star of david, the present, the dredil, penguin, Christmas candle head thing (forget the name of it), and the igloo.
C's are the snowman and the narwhal

K's is the one with a stick in it.

Lanterns

We joined the NAMI moms in October to make Lanterns for a Martinmas lantern walk. We made the lanterns one day and then about a week later we all gathered at night and sang and walked with our lanterns. Then one of the moms passed out apples and we walked back to someone's house for a bonfire and drum circle. Everyone brought food to pass. It was really fun and we hope to do it again next year.

Dr. Seuss Room

We're going to take a short trip back in time to when I was pregnant with K. C and I decided to decorate K's room Dr. Seuss. Together (with a little help tracing with Soup) we used a projector to paint these images on his walls. It was a ton of work and often frustrating as the projector was old and gave us some problems, but we had a great time and it turned out perfect. The room also has a bunch of hidden Whos. Here is one that wasn't painted yet.

Christmas Pants

Every year K gets PJs and a Holiday book for Christmas Eve. So this year I decided to make his PJs. C has also been requesting PJ bottoms so I decided to make matching. I ended up with lots of extra material and decided to make K's doll Joey his own pair.
