Fishing boy

K has been requesting a little fishing boy for his pond.  His straw hat was a swap gift from my little swapping group.  :)

knights

Yet another swap.  This little army of knights is destined for the knights, dragons, and castles swap.  I'm actually hosting this one so I'll be back to post pictures of all the items that are currently arriving at my house.  Everything is so wonderful!  I can't wait to post and send stuff back so everyone can see everything.

New gnomes!

Its been quite a long time since I've made any new gnomes. My mom came over to help with the boys and I used the opportunity to make a few gnomes. :) The green one was a long overdue swap gift for a friend, the blue one was a new sister gift to a friend, and the sunny flowery one is our new summer gnome. I had a lot of fun sewing the flowers on his belly.

My first craft fair!

I entered my first craft fair. Myself, and a few other natural parents pooled together to have a booth at the Do-it-yourself Fair. I've been crafting madly to make gnomes for the fair. Here is the funny thing though. Not one of my new gnomes sold, only the gnomes I'd already made. We're thinking of going in together for a few up coming fairs. I'm excited as the fair was actually quite fun. Here are some pictures of our booth and my gnomes on display.

Bee Gnome

I've finished my bee gnome! I love his hat. I needle felted the black stripes and wings. I don't know why I didn't incorporate needle felting into my gnomes a long time ago. Anyway he is a great addition to our summer table which I've been totally neglecting. What kind of gnome should I make next?

Birthday Gnome

I made this little gnome as a birthday gift to one of K's friends. Her birthday is only 10 days after K's birthday. This is the first time I've tried needle felting on one of the gnomes. I think I like the way it turned out and am going to try and incorporate it in the current gnome I am working on.

Gnome Homes

I joined a travel toys swap and decided to make these gnome homes. Each home has a little gnome in a bed and two changes of outfits. This project has been traveling all over with me so I could get it done in time. I'm happy to say it's finished and in the mail. I'm also making one for K that is a little more elaborate. I'll post when its done. This is probably my last post for awhile again. See you soon!

Happy Mother's Day

My new mother gnome holding her baby in a sling
Kalan painting a sign for mother's day

We spent this mother's day with family at our house. I made mother's day gnomes for both my mother and Casey's mother. The mother's are holding babies in slings. I love the way they turned out and now perhaps I'll attempt to make a baby backpack for the gnomes. :)
I hope everyone had a pleasant mother's day. My heart goes out to those that were not able to spend this mother's day with their child or their mother due to loss.

The Wizard

I have hardly had any time for crafting lately as K has decided that napping is no fun. Finally today though I've gotten some gnome making time! I've been wanting to make a wizard gnome for ages and just kept putting it on the back burner. Ok really I think my next few gnomes will be females. I just need to start brainstorming.

The Huntress

I finished my first female gnome. Ok well I've made other females in the past, but this was my first female gnome with hair. I wanted to make a companion to my Robin Hood gnome that actually wanted to get in on the action. Now that I've figured out how to add hair to the gnomes I think I'm going to make a bunch of strong female characters. K was excited about this one and I could hardly take her photo as K kept grabbing her and making her dance around the table. :)

Robin Hood Gnome

The other night I was inspired to make a fantasy gnome. He was really fun to make. I really want to make him a little companion gnome that has long hair. Its been a long time since I made a fantasy gnome for my etsy shop and now I keep thinking of all the possibilities. :)

I swear this is my last post on root children

I just finished them today and they are being sent out for the swap tomorrow. I just love the way they all look lined up on the nature table. I made a couple of extras and am debating bet keeping them for myself and selling them on Etsy. I guess I'll just have to make more. Right? Ok this is the last time I will bother you with root children pictures. :)

The root children.

I have finished two of the root children. I have a few more in various stages of finished. Each of them has a removable coat so they can turn from a root child to a flower. They have been pretty fun to make and this is my first time working with all natural wool felt. I'm not sure that I can ever go back. :)

The Root Children are on their way.

This is my spring gnome and my root child prototype on our nature table. I'm making root children for an upcoming swap and I swear I've made 20 prototypes. Each one has a removable coat and is wearing a plain brown outfit underneath. I'm not thrilled about the way the stitching turned out and Casey thinks he looks like a man instead of a child. So... I think I've finally figure it out. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have my first finished root child. Oh and I've received my easter basket swap stuff. I'll post that tomorrow.

A gift for little friends

Two of K's little friends are having birthday's next week. They are sisters (although not twins) so I made them matching gnomes with matching bags to put them in. I have no idea how I ended up making them Christmas colors. Hopefully they won't notice. :)

Leprechaun Gnome

We had a leprechaun move into our nature table. He arrived last night. He is a little annoyed that there is nothing else green on the table so I guess I'm going to have to work on that so he doesn't move out.

Valentines day table and gnomes

I made K and I a mother/child valentine gnome pair. They have hearts on their chests that you can pull off and trade. I also made a valentine mushroom. I've been wanting to try and make a mushroom for quite awhile and am excited I finally had the time. I'd like to make some more in other colors too. I've also included our nature table decorated for Valentines day. :) I might end up making a couple more things but this is how it looks for now.

Spider Gnome

I'm adding the spider gnome to by bug collection. Someone she ended up a black widow. I didn't set out to make a black widow but am happy with the results. I had hoped to get started on the bee gnome today but someone... I"m not naming names... decided not to nap today.
On another note. K and I had a ton of fun today at our local nature table. The staff was super nice and let us touch two snakes, a turtle, and a frog. K did not care for the frog as it was too hoppy. We also took a nice hike through the woods with some friends. I really love being outside even in the winter.

butterfly gnome

I am really excited about my next three gnomes. I had this idea to do three different bugs. The butterfly/caterpillar was the first, next is a spider, and then a bee w/ hive. Anyway this one was really fun to design and make.
On another note I'm looking into getting a learning tower off of craigslist. I'm really hoping they haven't sold it yet. The learning tower is an adjustable safe stool for toddlers and young children. I've been trying to bake more with K and this will be perfect for him to be able to reach the counter and actually help. It can also be used as a fort and a puppet theater.
On the baking front K and I baked a loaf of bread in the bread maker this past monday. I want to try and bake with K once a week or so. K loved it! In fact that might be partly why it didn't turn out too great. He was happily dumping in ingredients and taking them back out so I'm sure the recipe was a little off. The other problem was that I hadn't baked bread in so long it turns out my yeast was dead. I'd post a picture of the loaf, but it really was a sorry sight. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to stop somewhere to get us some fresh yeast.
