We drove out to our nearest Organic apple orchard today. It was quite a trek! We bought two bushels of apples and are hoping to make lots of apple sauce and apple butter. The farm also had lots of animals which made K really happy. Hopefully I'll be back soon with pictures of our canning.

My first craft fair!

I entered my first craft fair. Myself, and a few other natural parents pooled together to have a booth at the Do-it-yourself Fair. I've been crafting madly to make gnomes for the fair. Here is the funny thing though. Not one of my new gnomes sold, only the gnomes I'd already made. We're thinking of going in together for a few up coming fairs. I'm excited as the fair was actually quite fun. Here are some pictures of our booth and my gnomes on display.

Renn Fest

This past weekend we went to the Renaissance Festival. For Halloween my mom and I are making him a knight costume. We wore part of it to the festival. He had such a great time talking about scaring away dragons and searching for princesses and princes. K and his friend had tea with the faries, played in purple sand, and got lost in a maze.

Lion Shirt

While making K's halloween costume I decided to embellish one of his pink shirts. He loves it and now its the only shirt he wants to wear. I might just have to find the time to embellish a few more.

Summer Nature Table

I took this shot just before I started to switch over to our Fall table.
We collected some great feathers and acorns this summer, made shell candles, found water reeds, and a bee gnome. :)

Picking Raspberries

What a great farm we found! We spent the day picking organic raspberries on a little farm about a hour away from us. Her farm was beautiful. She had a little African garden that had beautiful Amaranth.
K had a great time and even managed to pick some berries himself. I'm excited that we will now have both blueberries and raspberries all winter long and that we have found a great farm to visit again come spring.

Cider Mill sEason!

I love Cider Mills! We go almost weekly during the season. We tried out a new one near us. The cider and donuts were great, however, they didn't really have any land to roam on.
On another note I've been gone for a couple of weeks. One reason is that I've been crafting like mad to make gnomes for my first craft fair, but mostly I've just been sick. I'm hoping to feel better soon and get back to creating and posting...

Huge sunflower!

Today we cute down our sunflowers so we could save the seeds. We left a few outside for the birds and squirrels. This one was our biggest and ended up measuring 12 feet!

Tree swap

1st off I wanted to say that its been awhile. I went to go visit my grandma and my great aunt on the other side of the state. We had a nice time and were able to see lots of family.

So this month I hosted a tree swap on Bits of Goodness. Here are all the goodies that came in the mail.
wood burned tree necklace, tree bag, kitted bag with wooden acorns in it, wool felt finger puppet (mine), woven wool tree, carved tree necklace, crochet apple tree, crochet tree, tree bag with wooden coins.

Everything was beautiful and I had a great time hosting. :)

Shell Candles

I've seen these here and there on the internet and have been wanting to make them. It was surprisingly labor intensive as I had to hold each wick still while the wax dried. Ha ha. I'm sure there is an easier way. It was fun anyway though and they turned out nice.

Dad's Birthday

My dad's birthday was this past week. We had him over for dinner and cake. I made my first two layered cake. I was never much of a baker until recently. This is mostly because I found the best book where everything is baked using whole grains. Everything I have made has turned out amazing. For my dad's birthday I made lemon poppy seed cake with blueberry jam.
I also made him a window star. What do you make for the guy who has everything? I've been itching to make more window stars. Perhaps I should make some fall colored ones for the upcoming season.
