Bee Baby Booties

I have a lot of friend who have either just given birth or pregnant. Since November I know at least one person giving birth each month until my own is due in May. So for each friend I have been making a little pair of booties. Here is the first pair I made: http://seasonalgnome.blogspot.com/2010/11/baby-booties.html
This 2nd pair is for a friend due today:

Buddha's Hand

My brother bought me this fruit at the store. He said seeing it, he just couldn't resist trying it. After much internet research I found that you only have a few choses in how to eat it, use it as zest on meat, use it as an air freshener, or candy it. I went with making it into a candy. The process was fun, however, I was called away towards the end and ended up messing the whole thing up. Oh well. It still tasted good.
By the Way. Buddha's hand smells very similar to lemon and the candied peel tastes like candied lemon peel.

wet felting

K and I wet felted using cookie cutters. I think I must not have enough patience because I never could get the wool to felt totally. I ended up needle felting them to make sure they held together. I kept meaning to take a picture when the sun was out but never remembered. Oh well.

Kid art

Between morning sickness, and viruses, K and I have been trying to get back into lots of art projects. Here are a couple of our recent ones. The first was using solar paper. I couldn't believe it worked as the paper is actually from when I was a kid, plus we hardly have any sun here. the 2nd one was painted using cooked noodles. K loved slapping the noodles into the paint and then onto the paper.

Socks!

Now that my Zebra is finished I was free to start something new. I'm excited to be knitting my first thing for myself! I had to buy a little book to get my started on circular needles and knitting in the round. I've only just begun but I am really enjoying it. Hopefully I'll have an updated photo soon of a completed sock.
K asks me constantly, "thats a sock?"

Knitted Zebra

I've finally finished a project that has been lingering for months. I knitted the zebra with self striping yarn which I think gave it a really neat effect. If it hadn't taken me so darn long to finish the first one I'd make another to see how totally different they would come out.
I also used pipe cleaners this time around for the legs. My last animal (the elephant) was not so lucky and he's not able to stand on his own. I'm thinking about going back and ripping out his legs to fix him.
K and I have been talking about some polar animals to add to his collection next. He is really excited about a polar pear and penguins.

Christmas Projects

We've been busy over here with holidays and I haven't had any time to get our pictures up here. So here are our projects from over the past month. I've given links for the projects that I found on the internet.

This is a picture Casey's family and the matching PJ bottoms I made for everyone for Christmas.

Homemade wholegrain cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning.

Christmas eve we had a little taffy pull.

Every year we cute fruit(lemons, oranges, limes, and grapefruit) and hang it on the tree. After the tree comes down we will cover the fruit in peanut butter and birdseed and hang them on a tree outside.

For this icicle project, K only had to squeeze tin foil, rub it in glue, and put sparkles on it. He had such a great time he made tons:http://belladia.typepad.com/bella_dia/2007/12/advent-day-20-o.html

This is a picture of K's little group of friends. We got together over the holidays to celebrate and exchange handmade gifts. I made the kids matching fish PJ bottoms. Somehow I lucked out and got them all in one picture.

Sorry for the sideways picture. These are k's handprints to form a reindeer. He gave these away to his relatives for Christmas.
